Cool Idea for Save the Date Cards

Cool Idea For Save The Date Cards for Engaged Couple

When Mariana told me Kyle had proposed and she needed a Save the Date photo, my mind went into overdrive thinking of a really cool idea for them. Actually I was just as excited thinking about the next time I might get to try her mother's amazing baklava, but I digress.

The thing about engagements, weddings, birth of your child and graduations is that they become like movie scenes replaying our memories in little snippets in the theater of our minds. I thought about how this moment would become a once in a lifetime movie scene. Time to climb up into the hot attic!

I had this old 35mm movie projector and thought about them watching a moment in their life. A popcorn tub, some red chairs and a white brick wall in downtown Dallas and we were in business.

I used Google Maps and was able to find a building with a white wall we could use. Once it got dark, we set up the shot. I actually just shot it with the blank wall and added in the movie screen in Photoshop.

The Session

We met down in the West End District of Dallas, and had a great time finding inspiration for some of our portraits. We saw these steps and I thought of a James Bond pose and created the portrait in classic black and white.

Kissing Among The Skyscrapers

There is nothing like the beautiful skyscrapers of downtown Dallas to provide a backdrop worthy of a fashion magazine. Kyle and Mariana were fashion models for the day and totally rocked it!

The Shadow Knows

The afternoon sun provided a beautiful, warm light and I thought how fun it might be to show them just standing and enjoying being with each other, but the shadow shows their true desire...

Creativity is the Key

Creativity is just something that your photographer has or doesn't have. I am very good at coming up with cool ideas and usually it comes to me in the middle of doing an activity. I will stop and pull out my phone, and type extensive, detailed notes so I don't forget. If you have an idea for your own engagement session, let me know. I can help you execute your vision, or even add to it. Bottom line is, the sky is the limit, so let's create something unique, memorable and fun!
